That’s the whole concept and Barker’s insight. If you want to make someone love you above all else... the only way to accomplish this is to dehumanize them, to strip away everything about them that made them someone you wanted to be with.

"Obsession" is a great horror tale that’s about a lot of things—men controlling women, the lies men tell themselves, the blurring of devotion to mania, the "crazy" behavior that men paint women, and the lack of owning up to the horrible messes we create.
