This movie is so charming, smart, and funny... This movie full of quirky people ultimately got me. Go to Full Review

A plainly affable romantic comedy that's not too powerful with its romance, and certainly not its comedy. Go to Full Review

Earnest in its efforts to blend its bleak subject matter with sweetness and quirk—oftentimes to a fault, “Ode to Joy” might be one of the more unusual entries in the ‘predictable’ romantic-comedy genre. Go to Full Review

Ode to Joy doesn’t reinvent the romcom wheel, but it’s not even trying to. It’s a well-meaning, slight and amusing love story carried by the charisma of its two leads Go to Full Review

Larissa N Jun 18 One of my favorites This movie has such a different and, at the same time, familiar proposition. The story is revolucionay, but at the same time, doesn't go far from what we are used to in rom coms. You get a few laughs, a lovely story and an amazing insight on how surrounded by happiness we are in our day to day life. I get why this might not be for everyone, it isn't, honestly, one of the funniest movies I've seen. But when you finish it, you get that sensation of how precious life really is, and your day just gets so much better. It's fun, it's conforting, it's inspiring and it's one of my favorite movies ever See more Rosana B 02/24/2024 "O filme é baseado em uma história real de Chris Higgins exibida originalmente no programa This American Life." See more Sean S 08/21/2023 This movie is an interesting plot that captures how hard it truly can be to find love in this world. The two leads do a great job of carrying this simple plot to the best of their abilities. See more torin f 05/26/2022 As might be expected from a movie based on a This American Life story, ODE TO JOY is charming, funny and impactful in about equal measure. The challenges of cataplexy resonate far beyond the particularities of the condition, and the film's understated approach makes the comedic touches all the more hilarious. See more 03/17/2022 I admit it, I only watched this because Morena was in it and I really loved watching her in the Endgame currently out. The concept is interesting, though if that condition is real, there should be a medication to suppress it as they do for depression which is the opposite. Then thinking about it, it's similar to Narcolepsy but triggered when you're happy...so couldn't they take medication for that condition since the symptoms are same? Falling asleep when happy, that is deadly to any intimate relationship. Well if you like watching unattractive men get girls way above their reach, this is the show for you. Everyone needs a little hope once and a while, gives hope to the hopeless...for the length of the runtime anyhow. See more 02/20/2022 I think I'd watch anything with Martin Freeman.
