      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

It has a talented cast and an entertaining soundtrack, but the limp and predictable Off the Rails lives down to its title in the most disappointing ways.

Marsha C This movie had potential to be more meaningful, but missed the mark with the number of outlandish situations they put middle aged women in. The characters weren't well rounded in their identities either except for Liz, Sally Phillips' character. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Ham acting. People pretending to have a good time. Cliched. High hopes but totally missed to spot. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member I thought this was really wholesome and heart-warming. I love a story about friendship and this was it! The act of sticking by your friends through thick and thin. I love it! It feels hopeful Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member A really, really bad movie and we were bored and disappointed. The script was clichéd, the Direction boring and the characters one dimensional at best with zero chemistry. Waste of my time and money, not to mention the talents of everyone involved. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Kelly Preston is my favourite person in the world ever... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review greg r Really really poor. Turned it off in 10 minutes. Shamefully bad. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

David Stratton The Australian There’s nothing very exceptional about this minor affair, which is blandly directed by Jules Williamson. The film is dedicated to Preston, who died soon after it was completed. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 23, 2022 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald It’s predictable but cheery. Phillips, an assured feel-good performer best remembered for the advice she dispensed as Shazza in Bridget Jones’s Diary and its sequels, is responsible for most of the laughs. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 4, 2022 Full Review Nick Schager Variety Temporarily recapturing one's youthful spirit while simultaneously accepting and embracing middle age has rarely felt this staid. Dec 14, 2021 Full Review Carey-Ann Pawsey Orca Sound Not all films have to be life changing. Some can just make you smile and feel good. Rated: 3/5 Jan 6, 2022 Full Review Neely Swanson Easy Reader (California) Wastes not only the talented cast but, more importantly, our valuable time. Dec 13, 2021 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Given the pleasant scenery, cameos by Judi Dench and Franco Nero, and Blondie songs peppering the soundtrack, it's a shame this earnest comedy of middle-aged misadventures is so predictable and uninspired.
