Audience Member Timely as ever, Offshore Incorporated is a social issues documentary that unveils the surprising truth behind corporate tax avoidance. It features many reputable experts who break the topic into understandable and interesting bites. Furthermore, the film is full of well-crafted and imaginative animations as well as a fantastic original score by Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Massive Attack's Robert del Naja. By the end, not only will you learn a lot but you will also be thoroughly entertained by this important must-see film so I highly recommend it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Smart, illuminating, and urgent, Offshore Incorporated delves into the murky waters of overseas tax havens, revealing the international economic structures that hold this system together. What sets this film apart (from other investigative documentaries) is its unflinching look at the human cost of tax avoidance and tax havens. Without tipping the scales too far in either direction, Offshore Incorporated analyzes-and explains-the moral ramifications of this system. A highly informative and entertaining film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member This documentary is incredibly insightful. Watching Offshore Incorporated broadened my perspective on tax havens and the moral issues it provokes around the world. The compelling visuals and illusive dialogue showers the audience with historical evidence not only proving tax havens exist, but commenting on the political push and pull to end this legal form of tax avoidance. I found the testimonials by Jeffrey Sachs, as well as Mark Fields to be genuine and provided much intel on the subject. I would recommend this to any graduates that are entering international work fields as this topic effects everyone. If you're looking to enhance your financial knowledge about the happenings of the tax world, I would definitely give this film a watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member I was reluctant to watch a documentary about international tax shelters, but this film was made with a high priority of making the content entertaining while presenting valuable information. Even though I'm nowhere close to an economics expert, I recommend learning about this topic because of how wide scale the whole practice is and how little it's talked about. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Tax avoidance is such an abstract and far away topic that is hard to imagine coming into our own neighborhoods and homes. However, Offshore Incorporated is a truthful commentary on the social implications of white collar financial mechanics. The documentary follows Father William Taylor as he battles Britain's usage of tax shelters through a series of interviews with economic and financial experts. One comment that really resonated with me was the fact that tax havens are making the poverty level in the middle class trickle upwards. An illuminating and relevant movie worth seeing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Offshore Inc. follows Father William Taylor's political campaign as he attempts to reform systematic tax avoidance--a giant that's dissected and discussed alongside Father William's journey through a panel of experts and reporters. The film's scope is wide and covers major tax haven entities such as the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin Isles, and Bermuda as well as emerging African markets with ties to Britain. Writer and director Mark Donne does a great job at keeping the information direct, honest, and concise while humanizing the real-life effects of offshore corporations.
