After witnessing a mob murder, nightclub singer Eleanor Spencer (Hope Manning) heads to Los Angeles to lie low. Along the way, she stops in a tiny New Mexico town where she attracts the eye of a saloon owner who offers her a job -- and sends a telegram to his Mafia associates. Luckily for Eleanor, she also catches the eye of heroic Sheriff Gene Autry (Gene Autry) who, when not wiping the floor with Chicago gangsters, doesn't mind joining her for a tune or two.
