Critics Consensus

Saddling an overqualified cast with a rote script, Old Guy's tired execution may leave audiences wondering whether it's time to put this concept out to pasture.

Sergio Burstein Los Angeles Times Worth seeing above all because of the valuable participation of [Christoph Waltz]. [Full review in Spanish] Mar 11, 2025 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian Old Guy is always acted with commitment and Hoffman shows he has the chops for a bigger role. Three big names doing a professional job … but the target isn’t found. Rated: 2/5 Mar 5, 2025 Full Review Christian Zilko IndieWire You’ve probably seen this movie a few times already, but the two leads work hard to ensure that Old Guy can at least be a pleasant diversion on your next two-hour flight. Rated: C+ Feb 22, 2025 Full Review Marie Asner Phantom Tollbooth As far as acting is concerned, Christoph Waltz is better than the dialogue but not given an opportunity to really bring it forth. Rated: 2/5 Mar 13, 2025 Full Review Matt Lynch In Review Online Old Guy isn’t executed extremely well, and it does remain a bit stale, but the performances are at least sufficiently dialed in to keep things pleasantly light enough for a painless, one-and-done watch. Feb 28, 2025 Full Review Daniel Rester Flickering Myth Old Guy is never terrible, but it’s ultimately bland and forgettable. Feb 27, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Ido D Very well done character development. Story is also sound. The best films are the ones with a high audience score AND a low critics score. Never fails. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/24/25 Full Review Audience Member I’ve come to the unfortunate realization that while Christoph Waltz has played some phenomenal roles…. He apparently has the project selectivity of late-career Bruce Willis. Maybe he’s paying for terminal illness treatment too! This movie though, a weird buddy comedy with zero chemistry. I can imagine the elevator pitch of a buddy comedy about a boomer & Gen Z hitman but the end product is painfully unremarkable. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/19/25 Full Review Rysman R Saya sngat menyukai nya☺☺☺ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/18/25 Full Review John S Nice, fun, and well done movie. The critics prove again that they're overthinking morons. Don't let the critics stop you from seeing a very good film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/12/25 Full Review Brok B Mr. Waltz might be an "Old guy", but not that old to star in such boring, empty action movies. Oh well, he is the only brighter spot in the movie, altough he probably never performed such a boring character. Typical action movie with no deeper story or meaning and with a premise we saw a 1000 times before. Good thing I had my cellphone close.
