Josh G Underwhelming in every way, the actors are uh, the cinematography so average and forgettable, and voice over narration, so much voice over, who is this for, read the book instead. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Wonderful Jules Verne adaptation. I consider this and Munchausen to be the essential Zeman films. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Three countries at war with one and other in Africa are displaced from Earth when a passing comet's gravitational pull, dislodges them all from earth, pulling them off into space. On this comet, its a dangerous world filled with stuff as dinosaurs and giant bug things, they decide to forget their differences and unite. Of course, as soon as this fear of death subsides later in the film; they all begin to fight again. On The Comet is a unique interesting satirical tale which is loaded with lots of old school movie magic. I was not very familiar with Karel Zeman, but this film has really opened my eyes. The use of animation, set design, and all sorts of camera tricks make this a fantastic adventure into a world unlike any other. Its a gorgeous film, with great imagery throughout. The film also has a love story in there, a ala Romeo and Juliet, but really the whole reason to watch this film is for the imagery. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
