Suave French actor Philippe Martin (Francis Lederer) provokes a scandal when, in a darkened theater, he mistakes young Monique (Ida Lupino) for his mistress, Yvonne (Countess Liev de Maigret), and tries to kiss her. Charged with assault, the quick-thinking Philippe claims it's French tradition to do as he did, and is let go. To his surprise, Philippe learns that Monique has paid his fine. As the tabloids exploit the situation, Monique dates Philippe, until a photo appears of him kissing Yvonne.

06/29/2013 Mid thirties studio fodder would be completely forgotten if it didn't have Ida Lupino in one of the star parts. She's very young although starting to move away from the English Jean Harlow mold the studio tried forcing her into at first. Her voice is still high and light not having yet acquire the smoky whiskey tinge that was to come within a few years. She and the forgotten Lederer make an attractive couple but this is a minor romantic comedy nothing more. See more 03/23/2008 Enjoyable minor classic, the cast is surprisingly good.
