Michael Rechtshaffen Los Angeles Times Frantic and flagrantly formulaic, this forced farce about a sham engagement sacrifices plot credibility and character motivation for stale humor and cheap setups. Feb 5, 2015 Full Review Abby Olcese Scene-Stealers.com One Small Hitch is just plain bad. Jun 23, 2017 Full Review Grace Montgomery Common Sense Media Funny romcom has lots of sex, profanity, some drinking. Rated: 3/5 May 19, 2015 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue The approach is broad and the story is predictable as the contrivances far outnumber the laughs. Feb 6, 2015 Full Review Marsha McCreadie Film Journal International This mildly if not wildly amusing rom-com brings up one big question: If you pretend to be someone, will that identity wrap around you and claim you? Feb 6, 2015 Full Review Christine N. Ziemba Paste Magazine One Small Hitch should have settled on being a cute but insipid romantic comedy. By emphasizing a lead character who does nothing more than play into a wedding fantasy in hopes that a frog will turn into her prince is ultimately more tragic than comic. Emma M Y’all don’t understand how much I love this movie. It is cheesy and charming in all the right ways. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/26/24 Full Review Shelly L I love rom-coms, even really corny, predictable, cheesy ones. My standards are pretty low when it comes to Rom-coms but this movie was just horrible. Like okay, they have a fake engagement and as soon as you think they're falling in love he starts randomly banging some other woman and even acts like he feels bad about it, but of course he keeps doing it anyway. Even after he sleeps with the woman he's fake engaged to, he doesn't cut things off with this other woman. If the aim of this movie is to make you hate this guy then they succeeded. There's nothing romantic or endearing about this storyline at all. If she married this guy he would just cheat on her. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/27/23 Full Review Rebecca R This movie was off the charts. Every character was perfection. This movie is one of my top ten favorites. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/08/23 Full Review Meliz M I really liked it. It was cute, romantic and just a fun movie. Actors did a good job and although it's not a blockbuster lol it is a cute movie to watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/26/23 Full Review Audience Member I have been on a modern rom-com binge, including all of the critically acclaimed ones, and to say I've been disappointed is a kind way of putting it. But this one 'One Small Hitch" is a personal favorite of mine.. Aubrey Dollar who I never heard of before viewing this film is fantastic, carrying the film, and making every actor around her better. Always remember what Hitchcock said about cinema, "the first thing you do is throw out plausibility" So try this one out, it's such a sweet film, and leaves one feeling great. I have viewed it multiple times! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member I really enjoyed this movie from start to finish. The characters were likeable and the "situations" kept me smiling. I found the professional reviews a bit irritating in their pomposity. Of course this movie is formulaic and of course I knew what would happen from the moment I read the plot summary. That is the whole idea of situation comedies.
