Will's desperation to keep Eva safe, by isolating her from the dangerous outside world, subtly transforms into control and imprisonment. This raises the profound question of the film: in a world without women, is a man's "protection" an act of love or one of possession? The movie is a somber and intriguing meditation on sacrifice, freedom, and the nature of a relationship when gender itself becomes a death sentence. See more Christie W Aug 13 Watched this in 2025!! First thought is Covid early 2020 then I looked up this movie was from 2019…seems more realistic than these bad reviews “preCovid” reviews. Worst case scenario, any female survivors would have to hide from the men left on the planet. Freida and Leslie characters gave hope for the next epidemic 😷 and any couples who must do what’s best to survive. Also, Leslie Odom character showed what a good man is supposed to do to keep his loved one alive as long as he did. See more Jennifer H Jun 16 I have never taken the time to write a review in my life, but this movie was SO TERRIBLE I felt I had to. I picked 1 star only because there was no 0 or -100 option. Pretty much every character is the stupidest person on the face of the earth, and I would like to kill them all. However, you can't blame the poor actors, so to whoever wrote this script, please quit your job immediately and look for work bagging groceries. Or washing cars, or bioengineering, anything except writing. I sincerely empathize with others who have unwittingly had their eyes assaulted by this "film." To start out, there were so many circumstances where common sense would have given them more of a chance of surviving. Secondly, there was nothing hopeful or happy remotely in this movie. Uou have to at least give your audience something to hope for. Screw you Takashi Doscher- go push your depressing plot somewhere else.
