Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter The first-time filmmaker lacks the stylistic assuredness to put the material over, and the mostly amateurish performances are no help. Dec 28, 2004 Full Review Elizabeth Weitzman New York Daily News Do they have Cinemax in Italy? Because surely that's where this filmy, flimsy fantasy belongs. Rated: 1/4 Dec 17, 2004 Full Review Anita Gates New York Times Giada Colagrande wrote, directed and stars in this atmospheric but baffling drama about a protective, possessive prostitute. Rated: 2/5 Dec 16, 2004 Full Review E! Online After 90 minutes of bad dialogue, limp scenes, interjected cuts to paintings of the Madonna (sooo subtle!) and no emotional resonance whatsoever, you're more than ready for this weak Heart to stop. Alain E This is a completely strange and immoral movie very well acted and photographed. What is the point, is a different question. A young woman works as a prostitute and raises her younger sister as a single parent, homeschooling her. At night though, she is her sexual partner after the clients are gone. If that is not bizarre enough, after the younger sister starts having opposite sex attractions the older sister acts as her pimp and then poisons all her clients, one by one. As the dead bodies accumulate, the younger sister solves the puzzle by poisoning her older sibling. Curtain. As I said the movie is very well photographed and framed. I would be curious to read the director’s explanation about the whole exercise. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/31/24 Full Review Audience Member Pretty interesting how quickly money can be earned Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/12/22 Full Review Audience Member A fairly disjointed look at two sisters, obsessed with each other, without parental authority, who indulge in some pretty bizarre behavior. The older girl, Maria (Natalie Cristiani), turns tricks in their small apartment with a roster of regular clients. The younger sister, Caterina (Giada Colagrande, who also wrote and directed), studies at home and is socially isolated. Caterina falls under the spell of a janitor (not an instructor) at her dance school, the older Giovanni (Claudio Botosso). When their affair is discovered, Maria reacts in a most sinister way, even though she had been complicit in its start, It is at this point that the story veers off into la-la land. Plenty of full and partial nudity, and disturbing sex scenes, but this viewer prefers his steam to have light as well as heat. This certainly lacked rationality to the point that any positives were lost on this viewer.
