Critics Consensus

Open Season is a cliched palette of tired jokes and CG animal shenanigans that have been seen multiple times this cinematic year.

Rated: 3/5 Oct 17, 2006 Full Review Time Out I have to say that the humour here (some of it Pythonesque) is mostly spot on and, at times, mischievously dark. James G One of the most underrated animated movies, and while some people may not enjoy it, I certainly do. The main character Boog is the reason I love the Open Season franchise. At first he enjoyed living in captivity as Ranger Beth's pet, but eventually after being taken to the forest. He learns to adapt to a whole new lifestyle of living in the woods deciding to stay with his best friend Elliot, and the other animals after defeating Shaw. I personally prefer Open Season more than Over The Hedge, and funny thing I used to mistake Over The Hedge as part of the Open Season franchise when I was younger. 2006 was certainly not a terrible year for animated movies it was truly an underrated year for animated movie in my opinion, even if there were some bad movies that released in the year 2006, which Open Season isn't one of them. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/25 Full Review Oaklee D A non offensive kids flick that 7 year old me loved. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/26/24 Full Review Anne P Very cute and funny. The first time I watched I didn't really like it but my siblings did...so there I was sitting at a movie slowly likeing it. Recommend watching it more than 3 times because after the third time it starts to grow on you. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/11/24 Full Review D M Bro's before doe's best line ever Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/07/24 Full Review Artur S Ehhhhh funny, but fell short in terms of writing. It's decent and worth a watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/24 Full Review Audience Member To be honest, I really like this movie. One of the things I loved about is the good cast it has! Like Martin Laurence and Ashton Kutcher? Dude. They seemed like a perfect cast, and I appreciate it even more, because they did have to change it on every sequel. The characters in this movie are pretty good, but Ian and Mcsquizzy might honestly be the best characters. Not like one of my favorite movies, but a movie I could watch if I had to. But if you want, maybe you could give it a try. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/12/24 Full Review Read all reviews
