Anthony Stacchi began his career in animation and visual effects with a bang. After graduating from California Institute of the Arts with a BFA in Film, Stacchi joined George Lucas' Academy Award-winning motion picture visual effects company Industrial Light and Magic. As an employee, Stacchi's first project was the legendary Michael J. Fox blockbuster "Back to the Future" (1985), on which he was a visual effects animator. Stacchi followed this effort up with a similar position on the Patrick Swyaze / Demi Moore romance "Ghost" (1990). In 1991, Stacchi worked as a visual effects animator on the Steven Spielberg-helmed "Hook," the story of a now adult Peter Pan trying to defeat Captain Hook in an effort to save his real-life children. Stacchi also worked a visual effects animator on TV movie "The Wish that Changed Christmas" (USA 1991), "The Meteor Man" (1993), and "James and the Giant Peach" (1996). Stacchi also worked as an animator and storyboard artist for ILM, contributing to projects such as "The Rocketeer" (1991), several episodes of the animated television series "Aeon Flux" (MTV 1992) and the groundbreaking DreamWorks picture "Antz" (1998). Stacchi was made head of story for "Frankenstein," a computer-animated feature that was later aborted, and the 2000 animated short "Work in Progress." Stacchi's directorial debut came in 2006, when he co-directed Sony Pictures first animated film "Open Season," a story about a series of animals who try to defeat a pack of human hunters. In 2014, he co-directed "The Boxtrolls" with Graham Annable, based on the popular children's novel Here Be Monsters by Alan Snow.
