Reminiscent of the darker, more whimsical animated films I grew up with and It's nice to see a kids film that doesn't treat it's audience like idiots. Archibald Snatcher is such a great villain.

The characters are a bit one dimensional, and some of the scenes involving the villains are genuinely disgusting, but there's still a well animated and rather endearing and unique story playing out.

Boxtrolls is one of my favorite Laika films! The character designs are so creative and the message about not judging a book by its cover is clearly explained in the film. This was very fun to watch, 9.5/10.

I have two opinions about this movie. One of them is I'd say that the boxtrolls may look fairy tale trolls but they're wearing supermarket stocking boxes to protect themselves which is good enough to save yourself. And the other is that I'd say that Archibald Snatcher is the weirdest villain ever because he's got jagged teeth, a Madame Frou Frou disguise and terrible cheese allergies. In fact, I like Archibald Asparagus better than him because he's way more handsome than him.
