Audience Member While the beginning of the film has some problems with it's pacing and jumps around a bit, and the villain could have had more screen time, the film makes up for it with it's character development and great fight scenes. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member 72% Noodle fu, with a side of eel style. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is worth a viewing for the final action scene. In a very Karate Kid like vibe, Operation Scorpio is about Yu Shu, a comic book artist who dreams of learning kung fu so he can fight the injustice of the world. After rescuing a maid from a prostitute ring, his father is injured and the three of them hide out at Master Yat's (Lau Kar Leung). Not much happens plot wise, as Yu Shu learns to cook noodles and a bit of kung fu. After a few run ins with the villains, Yu Shu learns from Master Yat and they celebrate. However, Yu Shu's friend's friend is sold as a "maid" to the prostitute ring, so Yu Shu and Master Yat go to the compound to kick some ass. They kick lots of henchmen ass, until they must deal with the villain's son, a heavy kicker with a deadly scorpion style. A 20 minute kick-fest ensues in the courtyard, with an impressive display of kicking. Although not very interesting until the finale, its good to see Lau Kar Leung kicking butt in this old fashioned modern martial arts movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member The crazy Scorpian technique is straight out of Looney Tunes and must be seen to be believed. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A comic book artist who dreams of being a hero learns kung fu from a noodle shop owner (Lau Kar Leung) in order to defeat a villainous master of "Scorpion" kung fu. This is one terrific martial arts film that features some truly incredible choreography highlighting newcomer, Yuen Jeung's jaw-dropping acrobatic abilities. If you like your Kung Fu films this is a must..... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Released in the UK as "Scorpion King" on the Hong Kong Legends label, this is a film deserving of its cult status as it is difficult to better the fight sequences this film offers. Other than that it is typical HK fare, corny music, so-so acting but did I tell you about the fights, just when you think you have seen it all, along comes a gem like this one. 9/10 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
