Reuben M A quietly beautiful story about life as a Baby Boomer aged couple navigating getting older together and remaining strong for each other during and after some most daunting challenges. Millennials may find it a bit tedious and hard to relate, but at the same time they may see their parents in this movie. Either treat the film as a showcase or a romantic display of realism over relatable discourses to boot with occasional unspoken meanings. With a simple title rightfully described, it's correct to assume there's more in poetic senses and matched by resonating performances from Neeson and Manville's chemistry. After watching the film, it's a nice picture that displays love being casually strong when going through hardships. There's a fair amount of symbolism present, with the pet fish and other things. I could understand the wife's concern and assumptions at times, I feel I may think similar things, if I were to be in her position. I thought the cast do well - Manville and Neeson both give quite solid performances. Indeed, it seemed quite believable that they were a married couple. The thought that so many, probably hundreds, if not thousands, of such married couples/families/people go through the process of cancer diagnosis and treatment in the UK, is a sobering thought indeed. I thought this was a well made film. I like how it shows the affection they have for one another, without being overly and unnecessarily sugary sweet. It's a thoughtful film that treats the topic well. It highlights the importance of expressing things, of opening up to other people, while undergoing such treatments - of admitting fear and vulnerability. I would recommend this film, yes.
