Failing badly in the polls, a Bolivian presidential candidate enlists the services of an American management team for help. The main star is "Calamity" Jane Bodine (Sandra Bullock), a brilliant strategist who comes out of self-imposed retirement for a chance to beat her professional nemesis, the loathsome Pat Candy. With Candy working for the opposition, it becomes a down-and-dirty, all-out battle between political consultants, where nothing is sacred and winning is all that matters.

Critics Consensus

Our Brand Is Crisis offers sporadic amusement and benefits from a talented cast, but ultimately lacks enough of a bite to add much of interest to the political satire genre.

Udita Jhunjhunwala Livemint It would have been nice to have some fresh insight into what goes on behind the scenes during an election campaign. This crisis does not convert into an opportunity. Aug 15, 2019 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com A head-scratching disappointment that's as frustratingly unsatisfying as anything I've seen this year. Rated: 2/4 Aug 22, 2016 Full Review Jason Bailey Flavorwire Their byplay is electric, the intellectual one-upmanship and flagrant dirty tricks providing much of the comic fuel that makes the movie go, but this is Bullock's show. May 3, 2016 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Alas, the film appears as if it has much to say, but doesn't end up saying much at all. Instead, it becomes a neutered vehicle for Bullock. Rated: 2.5/4 Apr 25, 2022 Full Review Nikki Baughan AWFJ.org As well as being a phenomenal actress, Bullock has a natural gift for comedy and the two come together in harmony. SkyRo P "Our Brand Is Crisis," featuring Sandra Bullock, has faced harsh criticism from both audiences and critics alike. As someone who watches a wide array of films, I feel compelled to share my perspective: I believe this movie has been unfairly judged and deserves a more nuanced evaluation. The film follows Bullock's character, an American political strategist, who is brought in to assist a candidate in South America struggling in the polls during a critical election period. What unfolds is a journey filled with unexpected challenges and dangers that test her resilience and skills. In my opinion, "Our Brand Is Crisis" is a solid film, perhaps even better than many critics suggest. It effectively delivers on many aspects that define a compelling narrative. While the storyline does have some dull moments and could benefit from tighter writing and pacing, these issues are relatively minor. They don't overshadow the film’s overall impact, which is often the case in films that miss the mark entirely. Despite its shortcomings, there are plenty of redeeming qualities that allow viewers to engage with the story and its characters. I genuinely believe that while improvements could be made, it does not warrant the negative reception it has received. Overall, it’s a film worth watching, and I think it has more to offer than many people realize. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/25 Full Review Carlos I This is trying to be a stinging political satire, but it fails to resonate or really even make any kind of impression. Which is a bummer as the heart is there. Bullock is trying her best here, but can't save it by herself. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/14/24 Full Review Bila Salsabila S 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/07/23 Full Review georgan g Unique combo of comedy & intense drama. Good acting and great cultural scenery equals a fine film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member More of a weak drama than a comedy. In fact, the few attempts at comic scenes are awfully cliche. It's tolerable but not all that interesting. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a movie I know is not good but I liked watching it .
