Trace Sauveur Austin Chronicle It finds its footing closer to the halfway mark as an offbeat odyssey with outwardly small tangible stakes, but calamitous emotional ones... the feeling becomes less of a clumsy one and more of a specific vibe to get in tune with. Mar 25, 2021 Full Review Nick Allen RogerEbert.com There are bits of compelling elements in all of these people, but they hardly feel grounded, and in turn their journey is less emotional. Mar 22, 2021 Full Review Mitchell Beaupre Awards Radar Smith can’t quite hit the landing of making it feel intentionally hollow. Rated: 2/4 Sep 22, 2022 Full Review Ayeen Forootan In Review Online [Bradley Grant Smith] sets the bar too low and doesn't do enough to upend the film's considerable convention. Jun 6, 2021 Full Review John Fink The Film Stage Our Father is ultimately a mixed bag of a film, with moving moments often punctuated with frustrating ones. Rated: C+ Apr 3, 2021 Full Review Aaron Peterson The Hollywood Outsider What begins as a compellingly quirky dark comedy, captivating us with the honesty of this obviously fractured family, loses focus and momentum as it rolls into its final moments Rated: 5.5/10 Apr 1, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

A T I worked on this movie, so I am somewhat biased, but by that same token I should be biased AGAINST it. So this is a 100% balanced review. Brad Smith's writing is sharp and warm at once, and the way these characters glide through the world, from shot to shot and brilliant side-character to side-character, is exactly how it feels to be stuck in the uncertainty of one's twenties and early-thirties, as well as under a cloud of grief. I find myself sometimes pulling up this movie and skipping to a random scene, as if pulling up an old memory of a friend long-passed. This is a truly independent film. It's funny, it's melancholy, its score is undeniably great. Watch it for a living, unvarnished story. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/24/23 Full Review Angelia C Amazing Movie. Loved it.
