Matt Lee Whitlock (Denzel Washington) is the police chief of a small Florida town, going through a divorce with his detective wife, Alex (Eva Mendes). He begins a passionate affair with Ann (Sanaa Lathan), only to find out that she's stricken with terminal cancer. Matt steals a large sum of money confiscated from a drug bust in order to pay for Ann's treatment -- but when she apparently dies in a suspicious fire, the money disappears, and all the clues point to Matt as the culprit.

Has just enough Denzel juice to get charge through a weak setup and actual braindead side charactersand deliver a solid 2nd and 3rd act. Denzel is the only reason this remotelt worked.

Denzel Washington assoluto protagonista di questo film d'azione ad alto contenuto adrenalinico in cui ovviamente la credibilità della sceneggiatura abbandona praticamente subito la scena per lasciare spazio a ritmi serrati e situazioni che portano il protagonista al limite della sconfitta per poi riuscire a cavarsela nei modi più disparati e per giungere ad un lieto fine prevedibile ma non per questo fallimentare. Va dato atto alla sceneggiatura di riuscire a proporre costantemente nuove e differenti sfide per il protagonista senza mai ripetersi e continuando anche a mutare i villain. Un film divertente ed adatto a molti, senza pretese eccessive ma senza dubbio appassionante, specialmente per gli amanti del genere.
