Hughe J Outbreak is a streaming movie released in 2024 starring a number of character actors I wasn't familiar with and a director I never heard of. The movie starts with a group of park rangers euthanizing a doggo because it has a mysterious disease and apparently the disease is spreading. Instead of using protective gear they just wander in and get bit by the infected pooch; this is the kind of writing that persists throughout the movie. Anyway, Billy (the star) goes home and while contemplating life a zombie wanders into a lake and apparently zombies are bad swimmers. So Billy saves the zombie but surprise, it's a zombie, so it makes mean faces until Billy beats it to death with a rock; the park ranger had a gun but naturally it was unloaded (writing again). He then gathers his wife and zero provisions or weapons and drives around until they basically return to where they started. That's the movie: a zombie driving simulator. I won't spoil this inane plot but basically save your time and go watch the first season of the Walking Dead if you want to see some good zombiepocalypse. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/27/25 Full Review monocled m It feels like the writers started with the ending and wrote backwards from there. The story makes no sense whatsoever and not one character behaves in a rational manner. The main characters drive for 2 straight days to escape the zombies and literally end up where they started. The ending is meant to explain some things, but if you think about it things make even less sense. Where did the 2nd and 3rd zombies come from?? They made some bizarre choices, even for zombies. In fact almost all of the zombies just kind of let the guy kill them. At one point he is knocked out for an entire night and the zombies just hang out and wait for him to wake up. Apparently the only way anyone has to communicate is a single pair of walkie-talkies, no phones of any kind in houses and businesses. Of course all of these plot holes exist to facilitate the special ending, which is what I refer to in my first sentence. Anyway, I'll end on a positive note. The acting was good, despite the characters being intentionally awful. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/17/25 Full Review Rich C Loved this film! Loved the ending! A must watch! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/24/25 Full Review Sam All the 5 star reviews seem like bots or fake accounts from friends and family… very weird echo chamber. This was an abysmal watch. I usually love low budget zombie movies, but this one was just… bad. The plot didn’t make sense once you get to the end, and rewatching to connect the scenes doesn’t help. The first half of the movie is just spent driving around, and the second half is slightly more suspenseful though still just as lacking of meaningful dialogue and direction. The only thing mildly interesting about the movie was the cinematography and the zombie prosthetics. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. Boring, incomplete, lazy writing. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/17/25 Full Review Jack C This Hulu Original movie is bad! And I don’t mean “bad” as in “this isn’t my kind of movie” bad. I mean bad as in “I’d rather have spent the last two hours getting a colonoscopy” bad. Truly terrible. Bad acting. Bad script. Bad cinematography. Bad plot. It’s bad. REALLY BAD. Radios that never work? Really?!?! A distraught mother who can’t even keep herself awake when zombies are getting killed in her kitchen? Really?!?! A zombie that can climb up a pole backwards? Really?!? Come on Hulu!! You can do better than this. How do I take back my half star? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/24/25 Full Review Ray B First 20 minutes are pretty original and effective. Then the dialogue kicks in to ruin it. Surprise ending almost makes the rest of the film worthwhile. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/17/25 Full Review Read all reviews
