Audience Member Just because it is old, doesn't mean it is good. I love watching classic films, but they are also prone to some real stinkers. "Pagan Love Song" is one of those. Howard Keel moves to Tahiti where he falls for island girl Esther Williams. It is a musical with not a single memorable song, not even Keel can make them sound good. Williams acting is at a career low, and there is virtually no drama or conflict until the film makers decide to throw in a lame moment towards the end. Not even the beauty of Hawaii (where it was filmed) can save it. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I think "Pagan Love Song" had an especially good romantic storyline along with exceptional songs perfectly placed throughout the movie to support it. The singing/swimming scene in this movie has some excellent choreography. I think Howard Keel is the dominant singing star in this movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Wow. Funny in all the wrong ways. Somewhat of a poor man's South Pacific. Everything that South Pacific got right, this movie got terribly wrong. I am slowly working my way through all of Esther Williams movies and I love Howard Keel (Annie Get Your Gun & Seven Brides for Seven Brothers), but this movie was not their best foray into cinema. For one several times through out the movie both of them look like they fell into a vat of bronzer, then at other moments in the film they appear to be as white as the moon. The songs are enjoyable, but forgettable. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review ashley h Pagan Love Song is a decent film. It is man from Ohio who inherits a coconut plantation and falls in love with a half-American, half-Tahitian beauty. Esther Williams and Howard Keel gave good performances. The script is a little slow in places. Robert Alton did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the music and romance. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member another typical esther Williams vehicle from MGM. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Tuneful MGM musical is short on plot. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
