Mel C A wonderful story....Antonio Banderas was at his best. The 10 year old who played Banderas as a boy was truly a marvel. Great film! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/20 Full Review annette s really????? what an empty, aimless waste of time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/02/20 Full Review bella Loved everything about it. Antonio & Penelope just keep getting better with age. It is nice to see 2 actors who own their age instead of denying it. The way the movie moved between time frames was very appealing. It keeps your attention. I felt it also showed addiction in a way that wasn't offending to anyone. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/20 Full Review Norman M W We loved it! The acting was superb. Poignant, riveting, heart-felt, honest. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/20 Full Review Neal H A series of excellent performances that never quite combine into a great film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/20 Full Review Catherine C Pointless!, is the only word that comes to mind after viewing this TERRIBLE film. Total waste of my hard earned money. Kathleen Sachs Chicago Reader While still embracing the visual facades that make his films such a pleasure to watch, Pain and Glory finds him stripping away the emotional facades, bringing us closer to him than ever before. Rated: 4/4 Dec 24, 2019 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com There is jubilation and wonder to be found in these remembrances, moments of pure bliss that are beyond imagining. Rated: 4/4 Nov 17, 2019 Full Review Moira MacDonald Seattle Times Almodóvar shows us that, even after nearly two dozen features over several decades, he can still hold an audience in his hand - and surprise it. Rated: 3.5/4 Nov 6, 2019 Full Review Ryan McQuade InSession Film Many meta films can be so insightful to a creator’s life, but this might be one of the most beautiful films in the sub-genre. Apr 4, 2024 Full Review Denise Pieniazek Puesta en Escena (AR) Pain and Glory, oscillates between constant antagonisms that cross the protagonist's feelings and function dialectically: Eros and Thanatos. The entire story expose the view of Salvador (Almodóvar's alter-ego) about his past. Rated: 10/10 Jan 27, 2024 Full Review Paul Kanieski KSQD Community Radio In addition to the stellar performances and sumptuous cinematography, Pain and Glory is a compassionate and realistic portrait of the bittersweet realities inseparable from a life near completion.
