isla s I didn't find this funny, or especially thought provoking. The characters seemed quite cliched and the plot was pretty obvious - I didn't feel a lot of warmth towards the characters and it just didn't interest me. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Hey, know what? This was alright. Dellane and Corraface bounce off each other well, offering performances sturdy enough to carry both the cliches and the twists of the story. Huh. For a movie upon which I randomly stumbled, it rather surprised me. "The Greeks are back!" Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member I really enjoyed the movie. I watched the entire movie through and was never bored. I liked ALL of the characters. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Just terrible. One of the most boring films that I have EVER seen. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A mildly implausible feelgood movie with some stock ingredients and its heart firmly in the right place. Fun to watch but not one to set the world on fire. It's better to fry fish and chips than to run an over-leveraged business empire. Greeks and Turks can be friends and neighbours in working class London. Who knew. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member As the main character doesn't adhere to a generic stereotype of where he immigrated from, this is a refreshing take on a familiar looking comedy drama, however some of these can be found in the supporting characters. Ben Sachs Chicago Reader The cast is pleasant enough to enliven the generic material, though much of writer-director Marcus Markou's dialogue is beyond salvaging. Jan 9, 2014 Full Review Gareth Hutchins Little White Lies In its favour, it's a movie with heart, charm and well-crafted characters. Apr 4, 2013 Full Review Mike McCahill Guardian It's a throwback, but relaxed, sweet and funny with it: a first feature that makes an impression by not pushing too hard to make an impression. Rated: 3/5 Apr 4, 2013 Full Review Daniel Green CineVue A far more restrained, London-based riches-to-rags parable, Markou's film strains to be both comic and touching, often missing its marks by some margin. Rated: 2/5 Feb 13, 2019 Full Review Jamie S. Rich Oregonian There are zero surprises here, but a strong cast and a decent script add up to dependable entertainment. Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 15, 2013 Full Review Graham Young Birmingham Mail Just like Arnold Schwarzenegger was told his name was too big for movie posters, Marcus Markou's inspirational debut feature film has an impossible title on purpose.
