Annie (Dorothée Berryman) is a Canadian attorney currently defending Pablo (Manuel Aranguiz), a Chilean who fled his home country because his political views were about to cost him his life. Looking for a legal loophole, Annie convinces her single sister, Claire (Geneviève Bujold), to wed Pablo so that he can remain in North America by law. Unfortunately, immigration officers are watching the couple, and Claire and Pablo must go to great lengths to deceive the government.
