Perfectionist Gil Buckman (Steve Martin) struggles with the deficiencies of his children, thinking they reflect poorly on his parenting -- and Gil's siblings only add to the stress of his life. One of his sisters (Dianne Wiest) faces difficulty when her teenage daughter (Martha Plimpton) becomes pregnant. Parenthood easily could have focused exclusively on yuppie parents and their kids; however, the script by Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel is more sophisticated than that, remembering that every parent is still a child too.

Absolutely hilarious, with a surprising amount of heart and earnestness that delivers a poignant message about...parenthood. Such a wonderful film that never lulls and elevates itself beyond expectations.

This film was not as I expected. Was great to watch it. See Keanu at work but think the script needed work. How ever from 1989 it wasn't bad. I will say this true followers of Keanu Reeves will watch all of his movies. You should at least watch. But remember how old it is. Give it a try at least.

Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom.

Like every other movie he’s in, Steve Martin steals the show in this one. Parenthood is funny, touching, and gives you something to think about. This is one of my favorite movies I’ve watched this year
