Critics Consensus

Jason Statham is game as usual, but Parker is a thoroughly generic and convoluted heist movie.

Larushka Ivan-Zadeh metro.co.uk Poor J-Lo: there was a time when she co-starred with George Clooney, but 15 years on from Out Of Sight she's just a third wheel in this uninspired vengeance caper wherein The Stath is shafted by the Mob and vows payback. Jay W "Parker" is a pretty run of the mill Action flick starring Jason Statham. It is far from a prime Statham movie, but it does play all the usual hits. The action gets going pretty early, by about the 10- minute mark we are introduced to the villains, the hero and what he wants to accomplish. Parker is a thief with a heart of gold and a precise moral compass. The actors all do a good job of elevating their material. Nick Nolte, Lopez and of course Statham all put in terrific performances. The action is well helmed, it is shot with clarity and has some clever twists on the action formula. I like the fact that Parker is not invincible. He takes a lot of beatings throughout the story and it does a good job demonstrating how difficult this ordeal has been. The movie loses some steam as it approaches the third act. The way in which Lopez's character is tied into the action feels very forced. It was like the director wanted to have Lopez and Statham to be in the movie together, but the writers couldn't think of a good reason. Nothing special, but if you like Statham action movies, you'll like this one. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/21/24 Full Review Ariadne M I understand the frustration of losing cryptocurrency.
