Udita Jhunjhunwala Livemint When the blasts send tremors through the desert, all you feel is your eardrums suffering from high-decibel distress. Jul 29, 2019 Full Review Anupama Chopra Film Companion Sharma unashamedly plays the patriotic card. Without apology, he yanks our heartstrings and evokes a rush of pride. Rated: 3/5 Aug 28, 2018 Full Review Rahul Desai Film Companion This might have seemed cheeky on paper, but it's almost as if the writers willingly dilute their vision when it runs the risk of getting too self-aware. Rated: 2/5 Aug 27, 2018 Full Review Manjusha Radhakrishnan Gulf News (UAE) Parmanu makes you wonder how can an earnest on-screen adventure with a potential to end with a big bang on the silver screen, end on a whimper? Rated: 2.5/5 May 25, 2018 Full Review Shilpa Jamkhandikar Reuters Abraham's lack of expression is only matched by Penty's perennially open-mouthed appearance, and their scenes are unintentionally funny because they try so hard to muster emotion. May 25, 2018 Full Review Devesh Sharma Filmfare The film does have minor flaws and loose ends but you kind of gloss over them because of its emotional impact. Jyoti Ranjan M Great filming on the greatest achievement of Indian history of becoming nuclear power house of the world. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/24 Full Review Dhrub Kumar A Super excellent movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Movie - paramanu Director- Avisek Sharma Cast- John Abraham, Diana penty, Mark beniggton etc Paramanu : the story of Pokhran is a good acceptable thriller which tells you the story of India's one of the most initial Nuclear Test conducted by India. Story starts in 1995 where an unsuccessful attempt is made because of lack of interest and focus of politicians; but opportunity knocks on John's door in 1998 where one of chief officer (Bomon Irani) shows interest and willingness in that idea. John is back to work and audience get ready to witness the preparation of testing nuclear weapons. To keep the operation covert is the biggest challenge ahead of the team because there is spy from Pakistan & satellites through which USA is keeping eye. Now to watch how they keep up with the operation going on with avoiding the satellites is the most intriguing and fun part of the movie. You know how it will end but it succeeds in creating that urgency and excitement, especially in the second half. First half has its own unwanted scenes which could have been avoided i.e. John's wife accusing him of being unfaithful and all, which creates unintentional humour in such serious situation. Screenplay is mostly good but it could have been more crispier if some scenes were edited. John Abraham does his best as a patriotic R&D officer, Diana did a faithful job and Boman is amazing as always with other cast. Overall Abhishek Sharma directorial is an entertaining movie providing a glance inone of chapters of Indian history.John and all other producers should be encouraged for choosing such a winner subject. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Good movie with Decent acting and great story. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Abhishek Sharma's execution doesn't lack in the much needed lightness of touch. But keeping aside a few especially rousing and emotional monologues, 'Parmanu' is a far from perfect recreation of a truly historical event. John Abraham doesn't deliver the punch the film could have used for being atleast superficially gripping. There is nothing really delivered on a deliberately tense note, largely because the screenplay consists of inconsistent and forgettable dialogues. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie is great with a great story and Took care of small trivial details also.
