Steve D over acted an unfunny. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Premiered just about the time the Bakker Scandal broke. Rather than being boosted by it, somehow it ended up washing out. Almost worth the ticket just to look at the car Bill Paxton drives. Topical for the time, it's definitely entertaining. Leland Crook's Cajun Sheriff is Oscar worthy. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Lollie C This is one of the greatest "sleeper" movies ever made. Never mind that I love it still after watching it at least a dozen times. I started to knock on my friend Mitch's door. I heard him laughing his butt off. I thought, man that must be a hilarious show he's watching because he almost never laughs out loud. Turned out he was watching it repeatedly... he was on the fourth go round and still laughing out loud??? I had to see it. Sooooo glad I did. It's full of good bad people and bad good people and they're all wonderfully hilarious. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/19/18 Full Review Audience Member One of my favorite films. The humor is character rather than joke based and Curry and Paxton shine. Annie Potts proved that she was more than Mary Jo Shiveley and Linda Kozlowski came right up to the edge of being an Arkansas country girl in her slip and Farrah Fawcett hair. An anti hero film at a time when the genre was dying out, it's well worth a look for anybody who fondly remembers Reagan era religious politics. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member this movie pokes fun of TV evangelism. its good fun. wish it was easier find Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Very funny movie that deserves to be released on DVD. Tim Curry at his best as a televangelist and Annie Potts as his wife. Tony Geary as Stonewall is worth the price of this movie alone.. if you could find it.
