Audience Member Dumb. Very dumb. Fascinatingly dumb. I am inclined to provide a middling rating for Patient 001, as it is objectively not a good movie, but that's not to say I didn't enjoy it. In fact, I am writing this review out of love for this strange, bad movie. Listen, it is not good. It just isn't. But I've seen reviews call it boring or unremarkable, and I could not disagree more. The premise is silly. The plot is poorly-executed. The dialogue is incredibly alien-like. The characters are poorly fleshed out and behave in equally alien ways. One time a baby cried, but I swore that it was just a pitch-shifted woman babbling. The female lead wears this awful wig for a third of the film. In a movie not at all meant to be a comedy, I laughed many, many times - though admittedly, sometimes the only way to react to what was happening on the screen was to laugh with sheer confusion. Patient 001 is an intricate tapestry of strangeness - unraveling the layers of bad film-making is a joy to the mind.
