Russ Just awful. I could write a better script in 2 days with no research. The acting in this is so stiff it looks like every scene got one take. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/11/22 Full Review bryan b The main character started as a shady stock broker (ripping off direct quotes from boiler room) gets framed for murder. Goes to jail and kills a bunch of people now that he's out only to go back to being a shady stockbroker. The mel Gibson movie of the same name is a better choice. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Such high expectations given its namesake. One of the worst movies I have seen all year. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review jason p Not terrible. But really hard to follow. And just very plain and lackluster. Not sure they writes knew what they were doing. Watch "Spenser Confidential" instead. Very similar but (a little) better. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Sometimes, script writers write themselves into a corner. And then suddenly they have to come up with absurdities to get themselves out of a dead-end in the plot. That happened numerous times in this movie and gets tough to suspend the disbelief. This just felt pieced together, the kind of "artsy" movie that receives great critical review but is just disjointed and opaque for the average viewer. Also, and this is super nitpicky, but I cringed watching the firearm handling in the movie. When someone gives you a hand gun to check out, you don't just wave it around without opening the slide and checking that the barrel is clear first. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Travis B Payback is a thrilling 90-minutes in the colorful world of Brooklyn's tight-knit Russian neighborhood, Little Odessa. Rade Šerbedžija, Bill Sage, Toby Leonard Moore, and Boris Lee Krutonog—excellent cast in this one! And, Matt Levett's performance carries a film. Jonathan Romney Screen International Mendoza isn't just indulging in genre thrills, but casting a characteristically jaundiced critical light on the entrenched condition of Filipino political and economic reality. Oct 30, 2021 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation But there's nothing here - especially not the dull, colorless acting - to recommend this latest "Payback."'
