Audience Member Pee Mak (Phi Mak Phra Khanong) is a 2013 Thai supernatural horror comedy romance film co-written and directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun. The film stars Mario Maurer, Davika Hoorne, Pongsathorn Jongwilas, Nattapong Chartpong, Auttarut Kongrasri and Kantapat Permpoonpatcharasook. It was produced by GMM Tai Hub and Jorkwang Film. It was distributed by GMM Tai Hub. The story is an adaptation of the Mae Nak Phra Khanong legend of Thai folklore. The film was a major commercial success upon its release and became Thailand's highest-grossing film of all time. Pee Mak earned more than 1 billion baht ($33 million) in revenue worldwide (mostly in Asia) and became the highest-grossing Thai film of all time, more than tripling the record held by The Legend of Suriyothai. The film sold a record 16 million tickets worldwide. It is the first Thai film to be screened in every southeast Asian country. The film received generally positive critical reviews, with a positive review in The Nation and The Guardian seeing it as a major success for Thai cinema. Vision wrote: "the film was overly dramatized. The performances were not so powerful and convincing. The comedy was mediocre. The only thing that stood out in the film were some of the visual effects, the ones that went along with the premise and of course the production. I don't understand how everyone would want to go see this film. Two fries!" Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/22/25 Full Review Herry S The story based on Mak & Nak relationship. But Nak young woman never give up will not let him go to move on. It is not as scary other horror one but it is sad Nak became ghost just want to be with him to have intimacy life after death. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/29/25 Full Review Nafis F Its a okayish horror movie. There's nothing much to expect from this one. Acting seemed so fake and as a story, pretty good but as a movie, nahhhh! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/08/23 Full Review avant s it lacks something but still entertaining enough and self-aware to make it a great watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Antonio F Simple but fun. Often tried my patience and felt amateur, but perhaps in a charming way. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/27/21 Full Review Audience Member Hilariously funny take on the "Ghost Wife". Some of the Thai humor doesn't translate to the West, but most of it does. If you are looking for something with a bit of a scare, a few touching moments and lots of laughs, look no further. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
