Audience Member Captivating insight in to Peggys life from art too men. She is an interesting character and this is a stunning doc. She comes across so well Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member XXLNT film, anyone who knows art or would like to this is a great showcase of artists and the times. not a boring minute. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Peggy Guggenheim was an art dealer, no, THE art dealer of modern art in the 20th century. "Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addict" paints a wonderful "warts and all" portrait of this fascinating character. The point of any documentary is to inform and entertain. The goal of a great documentary should be to make the audience feel like an absolute expert in a subject of which they knew nothing 2 hours prior. I knew nothing about Peggy Guggenheim or Art of This Century before watching the film, and I'm glad I didn't. I didn't have any spoilers. Guggenheim, yes one of THOSE Guggenheims, was a black sheep and a bon vivant. She was one of the "poor" Guggenheims. Poor being only a relative term in comparison to her uncle Solomon, who has a museum you've probably heard about. She transplanted to Europe early on and befriended (and slept with) many of the great painters and sculptor of the 20th century. She spent her fortune on the art of her friends, and she had a particularly good eye (and a decent art purchase adviser, Marcel Duchamp). I won't discuss all of her deeds, because I think this a documentary you should see. It's interesting and, for the most part, feel-good experience. You might start planning a trip to Venice once you leave the theatre. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review brent m An insightful, informative and highly entertaining profile of an eccentric doyenne of the art world. The film's meticulously organized format, coupled with its incisive wit, poignant expert interviews, carefully selected archive footage and vast array of examples from the protagonist's artwork collection, make Ms. Guggenheim come to life as a readily identifiable, fleshed-out persona. A fun offering in a genre often beset by overly serious. stodgy releases. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A great documentary about a very interesting woman. I have read two biographies about her and can't wait to read them again, along with her own memoir. Compulsory viewing for anyone interested in art. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Solid interesting and poignant biography of the famous art collector. A little long but worth it if your interested in the subject. Tom Long Detroit News There's an essential sweetness to "Art Addict," despite its ribald tales and rich settings. Peggy Guggenheim simply loved art.
