g j Robert Rodriguez-style roadtrip sleaze fest of the highest quality. This movie is great fun and the cast are really stand-out. I don't get why this isn't a more celebrated cult film. Really makes me wish Javier Bardem had pursued a shlockier career in cinema. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Right up there with Mickey and Mallory, the killer couple here is twisted and hilarious and go along an intense journey. This is criminally underseen and underrated. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/16/21 Full Review Audience Member An excellent movie about the crazy universe that exists in the lawless border between Mexico and the USA. An allegory of all the violence, kidnappings, rapes and killings that happen hour by hour in the border with total impunity, showed through a metaphoric situation that looks crazy in a first approach but makes total sense when you are well informed about the things that happen in that frontier. Also very funny if you have a dark sense of humor. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Rosie Perez stars as the titular character and one half of a couple who make the pair in Natural Born Killers look more akin to Bonnie & Clyde. James Gandolfini plays the cop in pursuit of these two Tex-Mex bandits. The duo practice an Aztec-inspired version of Santeria and are looking to up the ante. They decide they need pure-blooded gringos in order to sacrifice to their gods. Inspired by a real-life Mexican cult ("Los Narcosatánicos" - the same organization from whom Brujeria got their inspiration), they also trade in bank robbery, prostitution, drug dealing, and the baby fetus black market. Hard to categorize as it is a mash-up of genres; you'll find comedy, action, horror, crime, and romance in this boundary-pushing Spanish/English film. (Fans of Rosie Perez will certainly want to look for the Latin American edit.) Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member A terrible disgrace of a horror movie. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

      J. R. Jones Chicago Reader Gifford’s brand of psycho-noir has never done much for me, and as lovers on the run, Perez and Bardem make a pretty repulsive couple. Jun 29, 2022 Full Review Trace Thurman Horror Queers Podcast Perdita Durango will undoubtedly not be for everyone, but Álex de la Iglesia's exercise in bad taste is a perfect vehicle Perez and Bardem, who deliver career-best work in this bombastic B-movie. Rated: 5/5 Jun 8, 2022 Full Review Joe Lipsett Horror Queers Podcast A confronting exploitation film featuring no shortage of content warnings, Perdita Durango is at its best when it's focused on the fiercely talented Rosie Perez, who completely owns this movie. She's a revelation.
