Preposterous and predictable, The Perfect Man manages few laughs with its poorly paced sitcom script, cookie-cutter characters and contrived plotting.

Lílian H Ele é um filme charmoso, gostoso para se sentir bem. Nada como um filme adolescente nostálgico para assistir num sábado no fim da tarde!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/11/24 Full Review Audience Member This movie should be called Cringe, because that's all you'll be doing as you watch. It begins with a telegraphed cake in the face and the cringe meter moves a notch. From there the cringe increases in intensity. Ever time the mom is dumped she packs up her daughters and moves (cringe). The daughter tells what appears to be a close friend that she's moving, friend says "Ill miss you," and just leaves, no tears, no hugs. (cringe) They get to New York and the daughter catfishes her own mom using the persona of a local bistro owner. (CRINGE) Mom goes to a party at the same bistro and daughter sets off the fire extinguishers to stop them from running into each other. (CRINGE) Daughter tells boy from school to pretend to be bistro owner and break up with her mother over the phone.(CRINGE) Instead of breaking up with the mom, boy from school professes his love while looking at the daughter's picture. (CRINGE) Daughter decides that Bistro Ben is her mom's perfect match so she interrupts his wedding saying that he can't marry his fiance. (CRINGE) If you get past this point, Congratulations! Your cringe tolerance is second to none. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review r 9 A good film... I know, I'm more surprised than anybody! For large periods of 'The Perfect Man' I was questioning myself as to whether I was enjoying it and, evidently, I think I just about did. The acting isn't that great at all, but the humour and, most so, hearty narratives actually hit nicely - which I didn't expect. One of my main worries throughout was how were they going to connect the plot, I liked how they were piecing it together but didn't have faith that they'd stick the landing. Unfortunately, I was probably correct as the conclusion isn't the best. However, there is still a heartwarming story sandwiched inbetween the averageness. As mentioned, the talent onscreen isn't anything to shout about. Hilary Duff (Holly) and Heather Locklear (Jean) are the most noteworthy, as they lead an alright supporting cast. Usually these films are cast over plot, this is actually the other way around. It most certainly scrapes into the rating I'm giving it, but I can't deny the fact that I did connect with the story between Holly and Jean which elevates it upwards. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a very light hearted film that is predictably corny. BUT it is one of my all time favourites. It has a very big feel good factor about it, the soundtrack is really strong, and it just makes me feel so nice every time I watch it. If you're feeling a little down and need something to distract you and make your heart a little warmer, this is the film for you :) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member The Perfect Man tries to be cute and has some funny moments but suffers from a crappy script, a predictable storyline, painfully unremarkable performances and, most egregiously, an offensive portrayal of a gay man. Yeah, that oughta land you all the LGBT fans, movie. Give this one a skip. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member HORRENDOUS movie! Just horrendous! One of the worst, most cliched, and most boring movies I have ever watched in my entire life. One of the worst chick flicks ever made. This movie was so bad and boring that it put me to sleep. All of the characters suck. The plot is stupid. The humor is unfunny. In this movie, we never even got to see the mom date the so-called "perfect man". I love Hilary Duff, but this movie was just a horrendous, super cliched snooze-fest. Rating: 0.6/10 Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Tim Robey Daily Telegraph (UK) I kept steepling my hands and hiding behind them. Aug 4, 2014 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian Watching this unspeakably rubbish teen romcom is, to quote David Lodge's classic description of National Service, like a punishment for a crime you can't remember committing. Rated: 1/5 Jun 7, 2013 Full Review David Germain Associated Press The movie is a toxic buzz of sweetness that Duff's teen gal fans might lap up, while all others suffer through a prolonged sugar fit. Jun 7, 2013 Full Review Adam Smith Radio Times Even ardent Hilary Duff fans will have a hard time swallowing this thoroughly dim-witted romantic comedy. Rated: 1/5 Jun 7, 2013 Full Review Philip French Observer (UK) The intrigues are laboriously contrived, the film exudes disingenuous sentiments, and it has three happy endings -- one for Mum and one for each daughter. Jun 7, 2013 Full Review Christopher Borrelli Toledo Blade [Hilary Duff movies] never do solve their one nagging flaw: Duff's characters are remarkably self-possessed for teens but not enough to recognize the sitcoms they inhabit.
