The movie doesn't work, but parts of it do, and it kept raising my hopes, only to disappoint them. Go to Full Review

07/31/2017 If you like opera, great food, love stories and all things Canadiana you are in heaven with this movie. If you want to see the film that opened the TIFF festival the "Festival of Festivals" at the time, in 1991 this is a must see. See more 02/14/2012 Fabulously funny. A hidden Canadian gem that has been forgotten but ought to be lauded as one of our finest bits of comedy. See more 12/27/2008 A perfectly DELIGHTFUL, quirky comedy! Merges deadpan comedy with images of the bleak side of working-class Canada, and with (very naturally and very incidentally, albeit briefly) extremely casual treatment of issues of fluid gender identification. Positively bizarre and even approaching surreal, but always coming back to something concrete. Robbie Coltrane gives a spectacular performance. A true gem. See more 02/11/2008 wonderfully quirky and in T.O. too....so look for the landmarks. See more Read all reviews
