Jamie M Oh dear, oh dear…. Where do I start, this really was very badly put together indeed. You can't blame the material either, the story is a heralded literary classic for goodness sake! You would think that with a Disney budget (even a straight to streaming one) it would be difficult to mess this up. But you would have thought wrong, as they really have made a terrible mess of this. The directing lacks magic & the casting is shocking. Pan just feels wooden and has very little connectivity with Wendy or the rest of the cast. Wendy too is pretty unbelievable in the role and the worst of all is hook and the pirates. Law just doesn't have the gravitas for the role and Smee is Awful! Admittedly, living up to Dustin Hoffman and Bob Hoskins is almost an impossibility, but even if I had nothing to compare it to, I'd still want to turn it off. Don't waste your time, just watch Hook (again) instead, it never lets you down. More Never-watch than Never-land! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/13/23 Full Review Dhr. d As a big fan of the old movie Hook, this new movie was terrible to watch. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/04/23 Full Review Geek N This movie ruined everything good about the original. Wendy was supposed to be a motherly and mature figure in the lives of the boys, and instead, she is not any more mature than them. They made Peter into the villain, which while can actually count as more accurate to the original story (if they actually did this accurately), it does mean this is ultimately not an adaptation of the animated film. Oh, and lastly, in the original story, there were only lost boys because girls WERE TOO SMART TO FALL OFF OF THE CRADLE, explain to me why having female representation is more important than this line. This movie is shit, and I prefer watching the Peter Pan Anime that is more accurate to the animated movie and expands on the world, characters, and has better writing Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/05/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
