paul d This is an excellent film in all respects: as a political and police thriller, as a historical drama, and as a morality tale. The acting and cinematography are superb. The complex story is constructed around one man, a police captain, and his attempt to unravel the famous 1969 bombing of a bank in Piazza Fontana in Milano. The backdrop is, of course, the cold war and the domestic political tensions, sometimes violent, between right-wing and left-wing factions in Italy. The plot might be difficult to follow for people who are not familiar with European politics in the 60's and 70's. For those viewers, there are a few basic notions, context, that might help. In those years, many European countries were bitterly divided politically. There were many, many different movements, big and small, all across the political spectrum. Violence was perpetrated at times by both the left and the right, including those who were state officials and were supposed to be neutral. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Outstanding and beautifully shot, designed & directed. A disturbing indictment of the post war Italian governments and politics. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Giodrana, uses a sense of urgency and a realist style that captures the social political atmosphere of its troubled times. This is also achieved through careful photography and low lighting. The result is not only hard hitting but also rewardingly informational without seeming patronising, as the film remains neutral and is strongly based on facts. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member A neutral take of one of the most important fact of the italian's history after the world war. Performed by the best italian's actors. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Well made but dry and somewhat difficult to follow if you're not already very familiar with the events.
