Perhaps the definitive film work on the subject, though the psychology motivating it is left for the analysts and may well be the subject of much more study. Go to Full Review

hits rock bottom when the film tries to connect graffiti-writing's recent classification as a felony with rape and murder, absurdly implying that graffiti artists might be executed for their crime. Go to Full Review

05/16/2011 Great movie. Tying graffiti with the punishment of execution was a bit much but I guess it was used to try to get a point across. Exaggeration being a common thing in graffiti art, it's understandable. Made a lot of cogent arguments and harmoniously balanced the commonly known negative aspects of graffiti with the lesser known underground culture's core and growth from a couple people's perspectives. Effective documentary. See more 11/24/2006 Intense, but not as intense as Style Wars. See more 09/18/2006 Piece by Piece is something of a modern west coast Style Wars. It picks up right where Style Wars left off in 1983, and is set in San Francisco. They follow the progression of the SF Funk style along with all of the outside influences that made their way in over the years. The key difference between this and Style Wars, besides the decade, is that they took the time to show the darker side of the world of graffiti. From murders to the unjust laws that are passed to prevent them from creating their art, the message really becomes one preaching tolerance from the population. Fellow graffiti enthusiasts shouldn't hesitate to check this flick out. See more Read all reviews
