Rather than building tension or conflict, many scenes feel like someone workshopping their stand-up routine. That’s not to say there aren’t laughs—there are—but too many jokes fall flat, and the ratio leans heavily toward the latter. The action, while competent, is mostly crammed into the final quarter of the film. For something billed as an action comedy, that imbalance was a letdown. I expected tension and laughs woven together, not a comedy followed by an action finale. Still, there were bright spots. Some of the plot’s setups and payoffs were unexpectedly thoughtful, especially how cannabis-induced paranoia both endangered and saved the protagonists. That bit of narrative cleverness stood out in an otherwise uneven film. Watchable? Sure. Engaging? Not really. Seth Rogen, James Franco, and Danny McBride form a trio unlike any other. At the heart of the movie's drugged-up laughs lies a rather touching story about friendship. The shenanigans reach a fever pitch when the climax explodes into an unconventional confrontation of humorous violence. Rated 4/5 Stars •  Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/24/25 Full Review Steven S Some people may say that this movie is "too much pot humor" (this is a direct dig at you "Deborah") and not enough regular humor which I find ridiculous and over critical I mean of course the people saying this are critics but the main character starts as a completely unlikeable person and several run ins with death result in his character change and sober and high this movie was funny most jokes aren't weed based like some people seem to claim first of the few jokes are just based around the main character being an asshole and awkward situations I mean sure a lot of jokes are based around weed but that's what's the movie is about if you don't want pot humor don't watch it if you watch this knowing you don't like pot humor you shouldn't be critical of that that'd be like watching something labeled "John Mulaney best moments" and you hate John Mulaney that's why I personally don't trust critics reviews.
