Critics Consensus

Visually dazzling but soulless, the largely inert Pinocchio reaffirms that you should always let your conscience be your guide… away from unnecessary remakes.

Wenlei Ma News.com.au Just as Pinocchio wasn’t a real boy to start, this wasn’t a real movie – and there’s almost no chance it learnt enough lessons to become one with a soul. Rated: 2/5 Sep 18, 2022 Full Review Peter Travers ABC News Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee, it didn’t work for me. Sep 16, 2022 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News A misguided redo. Rated: 1.5/4 Sep 14, 2022 Full Review Lee Zumpe Tampa Bay Newspapers The pacing is hopelessly unwieldly, with unnecessary deviations from the original film, added characters who don’t really have purpose and do not propel the plot, and new songs that are not up to Disney standards. Oct 26, 2023 Full Review Mini Anthikad-Chhibber The Hindu Robert Zemeckis’ live-action film has gorgeous, seamless animation and revels in its seductive timelessness. Oct 4, 2023 Full Review Manuel São Bento FirstShowing.net Pinocchio boasts a more thematically impactful ending than the original but fails to deliver a new version of the famous childhood tale with the same magic and allure of the past. Hadassah G I loved it! So many life lessons shown throughout the movie! Beautiful work Disney. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/12/24 Full Review Alessandra M Il film scorre, ma scorre vuoto. Nessun personaggio vive davvero e nessun luogo ti fa sentire come se fossi lì. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/22/24 Full Review Marco P Garbage, I turned it off once Will Smith came on playing the fairy Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/10/24 Full Review Carter C This movie is absolute garbage. It is nothing like the classic. The acting is trash, the story is trash, and the script is even bigger trash. The one thing I thought about this movie that wasn’t bad, was the visual effects, they seem fine. Everything else is a massive clump of garbage. Just watch the original. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/10/24 Full Review Adriana S Just spent $4.99 on Amazon Video because I couldn't wait to watch this recreation of a childhood movie. So allow to say, this version is GARBAGE! They should have never allowed this to happen. The laziness is offensive. Their words don't match up with their mouths, when they're "looking/talking" to Pinocchio, they weren't lined up to where he was. Most of all, animation in movies back in the 90s weren't great, HOWEVER, these were TOTAL TRASH & embarrassing. What were they thinking?! Ugh 😫 So disappointing! Not sure of who, (in their right mind) would enjoy this. But to each their own I suppose. Just shows their taste in probably ANYTHING is... Tasteless... Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/04/24 Full Review Timur, Chi, T, Samilia, Tangram and Samil M Just watch Disney's original Pinocchio instead Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/04/24 Full Review Read all reviews
