I don't understand what all the negative reviews are about but I can agree on this: Yes, Pinocchio (2022) may have misunderstood the point of the original animated film by having Pinocchio not turn into a real boy at the end. I'll admit, that does undermine the core message of the original. However, other than that, what else is there to enjoy? The CGI and visuals are pretty impressive and I would say Tom Hanks made a compelling Geppetto. I personally felt the despair he felt after losing his son. That scene at the beginning of the movie really made up for the weak message at the end. I also greatly enjoyed Alan Silvestri's score in this too. So, overall, is it great? No. I would say stick to the original. But, in a sense, I personally think that there is enough in this to make it a somewhat enjoyable time. However I think it would have been better if they had kept some of the original soundtrack from the animated film.
