Michael Cuby them. A devastating portrait of queer loneliness, Pit Stop was an undeniable signal that great things would eventually come from this enterprising filmmaker. Sep 30, 2022 Full Review Amanda Jane Stern Film Inquiry A very well-acted, slow burn of a film. Although, it is occasionally too slow I appreciated its lack of drama and pretense in favor of a more simple, slice-of-life story about two men coming together amidst the backdrop of their small town. Oct 2, 2021 Full Review B. Ruby Rich Film Quarterly Yen Tan's gift for long takes and his comfort with silences makes demands on the audience that films ought to make - and pays them back with a surprising happy ending. Feb 28, 2020 Full Review Stephen Saito Moveable Fest Though it is notably spare, the film embraces its limited budget to tell a sad truth, set largely indoors where the bare walls of big rooms speak to a overriding sense of loneliness even when they're filled by people. Dec 17, 2018 Full Review Terence Johnson AwardsCircuit.com Anchored by some nuanced performances and a character driven screenplay, the film manages to say a lot without speaking loudly. Rated: 3/4 Aug 26, 2018 Full Review Richard Knight Windy City Times One of those small miracles that cinemaphiles justly revel in and it's a supreme addition to the queer-cinema canon. Timothy D Pit Stop is an intimate film about finding a new path. The character development in this film is slow and steady and blooms beautifully. If you have patience and value character growth, this is a lovely film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/22/23 Full Review Patrick M Different than the standard gay film, this probes the life of loneliness of one man (Bill Peck) and the unhappiness of another man (Alfredo Maduro). It is raw and looks at the journey each man takes inside themselves before finding each other. A slow-moving film, it will not appeal to those who think gay life is action and passion. This is a movie of reflectiveness and the tender climax is beautifully rendered, yet filled with hesitation and worry that will be all too obvious to older gay men who know the pitfalls and challenges of finding Joy and companionship and love in an environment all too familiar to those who have seen Brokeback Mountain. The expressions that flash across Peck and Maduro's faces reveal the vulnerability they are feeling inside when making love for the first time. A beautiful tale. I loved it, even the parts that went slow. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/07/23 Full Review Nanthawat J This movie was very slow and there was not much to it. My husband and I were displeased. I mean, if you're into movies that you have to read between the lines then this might be an okay movie. If you liked Speedway Junky, then this is the movie for you. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/18/22 Full Review Kim J You immerse yourself in the lives of our 2 main caracters, their longing, loneliness and eventually their meeting eachother for what seems to be a new beginning for them both. The acting is terrific, and the direction is so that we feel a natural flow in the movie. Even in the slower parts, you never feel left behind. You just patiently wait for what happens next........I like that! Great movie, great portrait of love is love. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/22 Full Review matthew f Dumb movie. No one likes it. Crappy and dull. Pit stop? More like Sh*t stop. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A wonderfully adult movie about being gay in a small Texas town. Gabe is divorced, but still dedicated to his young daughter, and therefore to his ex-wife. They remain close because each has no real choice. But as the movie progresses, each makes small moves towards independence, in a fashion that seems real, and honest, and thoroughly modern. She doesn't hate him for being gay; he wishes there were more and better options. What they find, near the end of the film - well, it may not be perfect, but it's just that much better. The film seems almost naked in its honesty. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
