Bill Goodykoontz Arizona Republic The movie has its moments (some of the songs are fun, as always), but like Plankton’s efforts at taking over the world, it’s ultimately a disappointment. Rated: 2/5 Mar 8, 2025 Full Review Calum Baker Radio Times SpongeBob Squarepants's diminutive nemesis, Sheldon J Plankton, gets a musical spin-off feature that starts well but runs out of nautical nonsense by the final act. Rated: 2/5 Apr 1, 2025 Full Review Shawn Edwards Fox 4 Kansas City The premise is actually just zany enough to be fun. Rated: 3/5 Mar 20, 2025 Full Review Cole Groth FandomWire This spinoff perfectly represents SpongeBob SquarePants’ lowly state combined with the weak quality of Netflix’s catalog. Rated: 5/10 Mar 18, 2025 Full Review Mat Brunet AniMat's Review (YouTube) Plankton may not have the secret formula to a great movie, but his love for his wife is just enough to make this visit to Bikini Bottom worth it. Rated: 6/10 Mar 14, 2025 Full Review Jennifer Green Common Sense Media This series spin-off has a built-in audience for its beloved characters as well as some positive themes, but the evil robot plot could overwhelm the youngest (and annoy the oldest) audiences. Kyle C This movie makes absolutely no sense. The animation was lazy and didn't feel right, halfway into the movie I felt like I wasn't watching anything related to previous SpongeBob movies. When Plankton and SpongeBob entered the Gal Pal hideout, plankton basically got high at started hallucinating about his wife Karen, that scene was horrifying. At the end of the "movie", plankton literally had the secret formula in his hands, which was the reason for the whole disaster of a movie, but he basically said "nah forget that, I want you Karen." and threw it away. Basically to summarize the movie, plankton wants the secret formula, plankton makes Karen sad, SpongeBob hypnotizes him, Karen becomes large evil robot and steals formula, plankton don't want formula anymore, End of movie. This movie is just a sad excuse to continue making 3d, ugly animated SpongeBob movies. Don't watch if you want to keep your respect to SpongeBob. Idk how it has high ratings, please help me fight back against the botted reviews 🙏 Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/27/25 Full Review Tim M What creativity is pumped into Plankton: The Movie's narrative and humor doesn't extend to the cheap animation, only marginally better than a bucket of chum. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/26/25 Full Review Tyler S It was alright. Originally, I thought the plot started out good, but kinda went all over the place after. Had some laughs, and the visuals were pretty fun. The movie just felt like a long drawn out cut scene from a video game. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/23/25 Full Review Ryan P this movies plot is a bit confusing, but it’s actually a pretty good watch. it’s leagues better then the shitfest that was sponge on the run and the sandy movie. kids will like it, it’s pretty fun. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/13/25 Full Review Audience Member It's awesome, loved the songs. I totally jammed out! 🎶💃🕺Well done Nickelodeon!
