Liam D Just a typical teen horror movie with Christian Slater (Soldiers of Fortune, The Power of Few) stumbling in once every 20 minutes. Usually slop from producer Randall Emmett (The Contract, Edison) Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/11/24 Full Review Karina P I love this movie! It's an old favorite of mine. Great story line. Luke Bonczyk (Harlan Diehl) is an absolute gem & part of me is crushed he's no longer acting, but I do love that he's doing nursing now and saving lives. I admire him for his hard work! This movie is definitely worth the watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/01/23 Full Review Trey W So what was the devils goal? To just keep possessing his son? Unclear on the objective of the big bad but an alright plot with sometimes some underperformed story telling. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/13/23 Full Review Tyler T The plot idea was neat, just don't like the execution, the devils only goal was to posses his son?? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/05/23 Full Review Audience Member I thought the movie was pretty great on it's own. It suffers here and there, but man it is not the worst thing I've ever seen. What brings this movie truly into gold status is either the meme comments, or the people not understanding Christian Bale is not in the movie. On the one hand, it's hilarious to think about that many people mistaking Slater for Bale, on the other, I really hope it's a community joke I'm just not privy to. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Play back is not a good horror film. The film barely has any scares in the acting is pretty bad. Christian Slater despite getting top billing is only in the film may be 15 minutes. It’s a repetitive film that tries to introduce scares but fails. The movies watchable is just not very good in anyway. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/18/20 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Nick Schager Slant Magazine Playback posits cinema as a conduit for Satanic evil, but has nothing to say about the act of watching, except that its uniform horridness functions as an unintentional commentary on enduring pitiful horror-movie conventions. Rated: .5/4 Mar 5, 2012 Full Review Kevin Carr 7M Pictures ambition alone can't make a good film, and if those elements are poorly put together and not fully realized, it can become less than the sum of its already tired parts Rated: 1.5/5 Aug 3, 2013 Full Review Annlee Ellingson Paste Magazine Playback takes a potentially intriguing concept and punctuates it with extreme gore rather than thrilling suspense. Apr 23, 2012 Full Review Scott Weinberg FEARnet On the bright side, the movie gets less irritating with each passing murder. Rated: 2/5 Mar 11, 2012 Full Review Brian Orndorf BrianOrndorf.com Nickels misses the mark with this design of voyeurism and possession, unable to launch his idea with an inspiring sense of madness or even basic boogeyman clarity. Rated: D Feb 29, 2012 Full Review Heather Wixson Dread Central Playback is a movie that had the potential to be good but suffers from terrible writing and a director who should have let someone have a pass at his script to get things tightened up Rated: 2/5 Feb 25, 2012 Full Review Read all reviews
