When recently unemployed accountant Brian (Kevin James) agrees to a playdate with charismatic stay-at-home dad Jeff (Alan Ritchson) and their sons, he expects an easy afternoon of small talk and football tossing. Instead, he's thrust into a chaotic scramble to stay alive as they are pursued by a ruthless team of mercenaries. Brian stumbles through one ridiculous obstacle after another, his zero tactical skills a stark contrast to Jeff's oddly prepared demeanor. Director Luke Greenfield (Let's Be Cops, The Girl Next Door) hilariously collides suburban dad life with high-stakes thrills, transforming an ordinary afternoon into an absurd action-packed adventure where minivan mayhem meets professional hitmen.

The final act loses steam, but there’s comic lunacy here worthy of MacGruber. Go to Full Review

Playdate isn’t a movie. It’s a compendium of clichés in search of one. What’s even worse is that the clichés are so stale. Go to Full Review

Alan Ritchson and Kevin James are perfectly mismatched to create an endearing and heartwarming duo who, despite the dysfunction, build a dynamic and charismatic pairing that’s the perfect mix of dumb and fun. Go to Full Review

Commentary on fatherhood, toxic masculinity, and military culture can be found buried in this silly high-jinx buddy flick with nonstop action. Go to Full Review

Playdate is the worst movie of 2025 because it's so annoying. There is not one likeable character in the whole film. Go to Full Review

Ash P @AshParth 8h I know this has been harsh from me, and it has its fans. However, this is certainly a movie that I will not be touching with a ten foot pole as much as the Amber Alert beeps throughout the movie. Congratulations to this movie for taking the spot from Trust and Run for being the worst of the worst. I will be giving this father/son duo playdate one guy in a Chuck E. Cheese knockoff costume trying to give a bored Kevin James out of ten. 1/10. See more James M @murraylax 18h Quite possibly the dumbest movie ever made. From the movie trailer and reviews, you expect this is going to be stupid, but you have no idea. You must experience it for yourself. You'll love every minute! See more Shaun R @Shaun666 1d Funny and silly enough to watch with the family. See more Joe S @Considerthis25 2d As fan of both these actors this movie was a major disappointment for me. The comedic scenes felt forced like they were put in to keep the movie from drowning in lunacy. I really wanted to like this movie. There were a few "so dumb it made me laugh" moments but otherwise, it felt like a 6th grader wrote it. See more Arlen B @Arlen170 3d I don’t get the negative reviews. Of course the movie was silly. But that’s what I want from Kevin James . Alan Ritchson was excellent. Also pretty good action. See more D E @warroad 4d Movie for 9 year old boys...............moronic and childish.
