Ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son, Tim, to find out what happened. Pokémon Detective Pikachu delivers an adventurous dive into the world of Pokémon, though it fails to capture the nostalgia, vibe, or charm of it's anime series and fims. Pikachu is adorable, but Ryan Reynolds as a talking Pokémon misses the mark, with the film also struggling under the weight of its exposition-heavy script. The story, while fun for kids, lacks the emotional depth to fully captivate viewers unfamiliar with the franchise. In this case, sticking to the animated feature films would have definitely been a better option.

The dialogue seems a bit bad at times but generally the story and acting are good. The pokemon themselves look great, although their interactions with humans seem a little off at times. Overall a very enjoyable movie.

The Pokemon are cute and the CGI is well done. Yet, underneath the surface, the plot is nearly nonexistent and the acting is subpar at best. So, is it worth watching? Yes. It's cute and funny. You'll laugh and be visually entertained. But once it's over, you realize you really gained nothing from the time spent watching.
