Synopsis
This film depicts the true story of Pope John Paul II (Albert Finney). Long before becoming the first Polish pope, the young Karol Jozef Wojtyla (Michael Crompton) dabbles in acting, but ultimately opts to become a Roman Catholic priest. A compassionate man, he aids Polish Jews during World War II, and later is influential in ending communism in his native country. The movie portrays his rise through the Catholic ranks, from bishop to cardinal, and explores his initial time as pope.
