Born K 12/04/2023 As with Walt DIsney the cartoons of the 30-40's had a different tone from the most light hearted cartoons of latter generations. This is the case with this one: expect a classical Popeye's adventure, short, but fun to watch. And also a Brutus with his typical violence, and unacceptable attitudes towards Olive that doesn't fit today's generation concepts, but were ok into the more patriarchal ways on the early 20th century. Score: 7,5 out of 10,0 / B+. See more 03/04/2016 This is a more interesting film than others starring Popeye, as it borrows heavily from older adventure films like The Voyage of Sinbad. It ends with the familiar Popeye formula of solving all one's problems with spinach and punching, but the first half of the film felt like a fun adventure. See more 01/01/2012 Popeye is cool. Bluto plays Sinbad the sailor, who takes on Popeye in a challenge of who is the better sailor in this colorful animated adventure. It was one of three or so special Popeye cartoons, and it is a lot of fun if your a fan of animation, especially old Fleischer style theatrical cartoons. Despite a weak ending, the short doesn't have a dull moment and is horribly memorable for what it is.
