Born K As with Walt DIsney the cartoons of the 30-40's had a different tone from the most light hearted cartoons of latter generations. This is the case with this one: expect a classical Popeye's adventure, short, but fun to watch. And also a Brutus with his typical violence, and unacceptable attitudes towards Olive that doesn't fit today's generation concepts, but were ok into the more patriarchal ways on the early 20th century. Score: 7,5 out of 10,0 / B+. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/04/23 Full Review edmund p https://letterboxd.com/edmundpoliks/film/popeye-the-sailor-meets-sindbad-the-sailor/ Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a more interesting film than others starring Popeye, as it borrows heavily from older adventure films like The Voyage of Sinbad. It ends with the familiar Popeye formula of solving all one's problems with spinach and punching, but the first half of the film felt like a fun adventure. I wanted to yell at my screen "Don't go in there!" when danger arose and cheer when the hero triumphed! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member watched this this morning, freaking classic! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Popeye is cool. Bluto plays Sinbad the sailor, who takes on Popeye in a challenge of who is the better sailor in this colorful animated adventure. It was one of three or so special Popeye cartoons, and it is a lot of fun if your a fan of animation, especially old Fleischer style theatrical cartoons. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member The absolute greatest of the Popeye the Sailor serials. Its technical make is to such a par that it makes the subsequent fifties' Popeye serials look dismal. Despite a weak ending, the short doesn't have a dull moment and is horribly memorable for what it is. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
