Audience Member A silly movie about gambling and selling Macau! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member LA MEJOR PELICULA DE POKER EVERRRRRRRRR!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Poker King is strangely enjoyable. It is a comedy, but there weren't so many jokes that I would consider "funny". There were some amusing moments and some of the lines were terrific. What I think makes this movie good is the acting. Louis Koo was decent but wasn't anything special. I think the winning actor here is Lau Ching Wan. He's a great comedic performer, and he played his smart-ass role so well. Stephy Tsang was actually very adorable and sweet. Wong You Nam never ceases to please me when he plays his dumb ass characters. So, there wasn't anyhting wrong with the acting. The acting was good. I didn't like the plot though. This is a comedy, but for some reason the silly plot didn't work here. The characters were good, but the stroyline becomes predictable at a point in the movie. The other thing that ruins this is that the movie is way too long. It's 2 hours! Way too long for my taste. I didn't really like ending as well. It's an okay comedy film, with slight flaws. There is a lot of great comedic acting and some terrfic characters. It's actually a very cute little movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Here's a movie trying to hard to impress the audience but sadly, because the plot is too long, the attention span cuts short even until the showdown between two rivals. Louis Koo and Lau Ching Wan have overdone their roles one too many times in the film industry and Poker King shares that similar fate that tries to grab the audience by its subject but does not live up with the likes of Chow Yun-Fatt's God of Gamblers. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Just ridiculous. Stay away from this humiliating piece of HK cinema. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member The usual Hong Kong sports-hobby-comedy. This time about Poker. Prefer "Shaolin Soccer" instead or even older ones like "God of Cookery" Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
