Synopsis
This documentary paints a complex picture of Tenzin Gyatso, hailed as the reincarnation of Tibet's prior rulers when he was only a boy. Despite his personal desire to live a simple life, China's claim to Tibet forces Gyatso, who eventually assumes the identity of the 14th dalai lama, to confront his destiny: serving as a guiding, unifying force for Tibetans around the globe. The film contrasts the peaceful beliefs of the dalai lama with footage of the atrocities that China has been accused of.
