Audience Member This movie was way ahead of its time. Taking place about 100 years ago, "Powderkeg" stars Rod Taylor and Dennis Cole as two swashbuckling troubleshooters for hire. Their fee for helping? A blank check. Rod Taylor plays an ex-Army Captain and Dennis Cole plays an accused cattle rustler. Fernando Lamas also stars. This motion picture for television did so well in the Nielsen ratings that it served as the pilot for a television series named "Bearcats!" Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member 55/100. RT has the title wrong, it is one word.."Powderkeg". This television made western isn't too bad, but its TV roots are very evident. This was actually a pilot for a potential series that never materialized. It's main flaw is that it makes extremely little attempt to capture the era in which it was filmed. Rod Taylor and Fernando Lamas do a good job acting, the rest of the cast is fair, but Dennis Cole is way out of place and does not do very well. Good photography, some decent action sequences.
